Third Annual Awards Luncheon

January 15, 2015

Our Third Annual Meeting and Awards Program Luncheon was held on January 15, 2015 at the Baldwin  It was a great success. We gave out 2 Concrete Awards & had 2 students to present their research papers to out chapter.

Coreslab Structures (ARK), Inc. won in the the category of “Project Under $6 million Contract Value”. Their project was the Ouachita School District P.E. Building/FEMA Shelter in Donaldson, AR.

Olympus Construction, Inc. won in the category of “Project Over $6 million Contract Value”. Their project was the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdseye, AR.

Congratulations to both winners!

Our 2 students who presented papers in the Student Competition were Canh Dang(winner) and Alberto Ramirez Garcia(runner-up).

Second Annual Awards Luncheon

January 16, 2014

Our 2nd Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon was a great way to start off our year. We had 23 attendees for this luncheon that was held at the Baldwin & Shell Construction Company’s office in Little Rock. We gave out 2 Concrete Awards & we had 3 student’s to present their research papers to our chapter.

We introduced our 2014 Arkansas Chapter Officers & Board of Directors. They are as follows:

We had 3 students participate in the ACI 2nd Annual Meeting Students Research Competition.  The winner of the $500 cash prize was Cameron D. Murray from the University of Arkansas.  His research paper was on “Controlling Alkali-Silica Reaction in a Harsh Industrial Environment”.  Our second student was Magued Barsoum from UALR & third was Richard Deschenes from the University of Arkansas, both with research papers on “ASR”.  This was a very close competition & with all 3 student’s having the same topic as their research paper made it that more difficult for the judges to decide on a winner.

Baldwin & Shell won in the category: Project with a General Contract Value over $6 million.  Their project was the Vol-Walker Hall Renovation & Steven L. Anderson Design Center in Fayetteville, AR.


Coreslab Structures (ARK), Inc. won in the category: Project with a General Contract Value under $6 million.  Their project was the Southwest Power Pool Parking Garage in Little Rock, AR.
